National Anti-Slaughter Bill Up For Vote

The Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee of the US Senate today, voted in favor of sending S 311, the Senate version of the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (AHSPA), to the Senate floor to be voted on. The voting was 15-7, in our favor.

Click on our "Take Action" link to the left to see the path a bill takes to become law. Next, we must get the House version of this bill, which is HR 503, out of the Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry.
The American Quarter Horse Association has sent out an appeal to all of its members, urging them to contact their congressional representatives to voice thier opinion against S 311 and HR 503. The pro-slaughter side is finally figuring out that their paid lobbiests are not as effective as the voice of the public majority, so they have switched to our tactics...or so they think! They cannot duplicate our success because our success is based on the truth. Their failure is based on their own lies, which people are realizing more and more as each day goes by and 100,000 "unwanted" horses fail to materialize!
